Berlinale International Film Festival in Berlin

The annual Berlin International Film Festival is one of the most important and reputable media events of the world and it is considered to be the most publicly attended film festival worldwide. Composed of 7 different festival, the Berlin International Film Festival offers something for everyone. The categories range from feature-length films in the competition category, to independent and arthouse films (Panorama section), to short and feature-length films aimed at children and youth (Generation). Additional categories are Forum, where experimental and documentary films are shown; Perspektive Deutsches Kino, showing German films and current cinema trends in Germany; Berlinale Shorts, offering domestic and international short films with innovative filmmaking approaches and Retrospective, here selected Berlinale films of previous years and of the different categories are shown.
This year more than 50 films from 33 countries will be shown of which 18 films compete for the Golden and Silver bears.

Residence registration

New law of residence registration (“Meldegesetz”) in Germany starting 1st of November 2015 . It applies nationwide in Germany.
Landlords have to hand over a “Wohnungsgeberbescheinigung” to their new tenants
If you rent an apartment or flat and move in you have to go to the registration office (Meldebehörde, Bürgergeramt) to get registered within two weeks. Since the 1st of November you need besides registration form (filled in) another form called “Wohnungsgeberbescheinigung”.  This form must be filled in and signed by your landlord or his representative. The form includes information about the tenants, date of moving in etc. This form is valid only if it is signed by your landlord or his representative.
